Driver Safety Mock Accident – Trinidad High School

Driver safety is a major concern for everyone and should be the number one focus when behind the wheel or when riding as a passenger in a vehicle.  To date the State of Colorado Department of Transportation has recorded 120 traffic fatalities in 2019.  Trinidad area first responders including Trinidad Ambulance District, Trinidad Police and Fire Departments along with the Las Animas County Sheriff’s Department and the Las Animas County Coroner coordinated with student body members from Trinidad High School in staging a mock accident to educate everyone on the seriousness of drinking and driving.  Although the scenario focused on driving while intoxicated the moderator expounded on the dangers of driving while impaired by any means including texting while driving or any other event that could cause a driver to not be fully focused on the road and its surroundings.
